Simplify The Operations Manager Recruiting and Hiring Process
Use ST³ Consulting to Help Simplify the Hiring Process For Your Next Assistant, Operations Manager, Transactions Manager, or Director of Operations
Have you ever tried to hire an Assistant, Operations Manager, Transaction Manager, Director of Operations, or COO to help you run your real estate business? The job search to find the right candidate can be time consuming! Busy real estate agents usually don’t have time to dedicate to their employee search which can lead to hiring the wrong employee based on their personality or business needs. In order to successfully hire for one of those positions, here’s what needs to be done:
Creating a job description - this seems straightforward but identifying clear business needs and setting expectations is really important.
Deciding on compensation and benefits - do you know what the industry standard salaries are? I do!
Posting the job online, on social media, and notifying internal brokerage resources/your network - finding someone through someone you know and trust can make a big difference!
Reviewing applications/resumes, screening candidates, hosting interviews, and speaking with references
Putting together an offer letter and negotiating with the candidate
Drafting an employment agreement with offer details
Setting up a payroll system and state required taxes, insurances, and withholdings
Putting together an on-boarding program for your brokerage’s infrastructure, your team’s existing systems/processes, and setting expectations for the day-to-day
On-going employee management to set you and the employee up for a successful relationship (recurring internal check-ins, weekly team meetings, nightly recap emails, etc.)
Bi-annual performance reviews to help your employee grow into the role and acknowledge their hard work
There really is a lot that goes into hiring and managing a new employee. Some recruiting companies who say that they can help you hire your next Operations Manager or Director of Operations, but they don’t necessarily have the actual expertise to know what makes an agent/employee relationship successful or what the job requires the employee to do. For example, having a hospitality background doesn’t always translate into the people skills required to be a transaction manager for a real estate agent.
Here’s how ST³ Consulting can help:
ST³ Consulting offers a hiring and on-boarding package for busy agents who want all of the above steps handled on their behalf (or as much involvement as you’d like). Save yourself the time and re-focus it on your deals and clients!
Wondering about my expertise? I’ve helped agents hire for all of these roles and I know how to screen and interview candidates to filter through those who talk up big game during the interviews but really have limited experience. I’ve also been an Operations Manager and Director of Operations before - so I know firsthand what the job requires and the skillset and expertise required to do it well. I also know how to navigate adjusting the standard job description for an Operations Manager to be better suited for different roles that agents need filled, for example, I recently helped an agent hire a Business Development Manager who was paid at the same level as an Operations Manager.
